“Swirl” is awarded in Havana

Swirl got the special prize from the Jury at the 33rd edition of the Festival of New Latin-American Cinema of La Havana.

Swirl was awarded at the Opera Prima category for new directors. The first fiction features made by Latin-American and Caribbean filmmakers run separately in this category. Swirl ran alongside important films like the also Brazilian Trabalhar Cansa by Juliana Rojas and Marco Dutra and the Mexican El premio by Paula Markovitch.

In this edition of the Festival, the Jury for Opera Prima consisted of Santiago Loza (producer/Argentina), Rebeca Chávez (producer/Cuba) and Ciro Guerra (producer/Colômbia).
